Thursday, October 23, 2008
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 23, 2008) - The ETSU volleyball team is set to host conference opponents Florida Gulf Coast (Friday 7 p.m.) and Stetson (Saturday 3 p.m.) this weekend at Brooks Gym.
The Bucs (7-13, 4-8 A-Sun) were swept in their last three matches by Tennessee, Mercer and Kennesaw State. ETSU defeated the Hatters 3-1 on the road earlier this season, but dropped its only match against the Eagles, 3-1.
FGCU (13-6, 11-1 A-Sun) comes into the contest having won its last six matches. In their last match, the Eagles defeated Central Florida on the road Tuesday, 3-1.
Stetson (2-17, 0-12 A-Sun) has yet to win a conference match this season as the Hatters are on an eight-game losing streak. The only wins for Stetson this season came against Bethune-Cookman and The Citadel.
Every fan who brings an old pair of tennis shoes to either match will be admitted for only $1 in correlation with the "Kicks for Bucs" promotion. Also an hour before Friday's match the Alcohol Awareness Task Force (AATF) will hand out bags of goodies including candy, toothbrushes, AATF pencils, stickers, McDonald's French fries coupons and other fun prizes to the first 100 kids and students.
