JACKSONVILLE, Fla.. (Nov. 1, 2008) - The ETSU volleyball team was swept by Jacksonville Saturday afternoon at Swisher Gym in Jacksonville, Fla., 3-0 (15-25,18-25, 19-25).

"Jacksonville is a strong team with a great block," said head coach Lindsey Devine. "When we followed our game plan we did well. We are going to just have to work hard so that we can make the conference tournament, and learn from these matches."

The Bucs (8-17, 5-11 A-Sun) were led offensively by Erin Ryan (Davie, Fla.) as she tallied nine kills in the match. Desiree Dyck (Meadow Lake Saskatchewan) had seven kills for ETSU, while junior Amanda Youell (Middleburg, Fla.) quarterbacked the Buccaneer offense collecting 22 assists, eight digs and four blocks.

In the first set, the Dolphins jumped out to a 10-3 lead after a six-point run. The Bucs cut the Jacksonville lead to 10-8, but the Dolphin attack was too much as they took the set 25-15. Dyck led the Bucs in the set with four kills.

Jacksonville carried its momentum into the second set as the Dolphins went on a 6-1 run to go in front 13-8. ETSU again cut the lead to two points, 15-13, but Jacksonville got five straight points to increase its lead to 20-13. The Dolphins went on to win the set 25-18 after a couple Aidan Yeager kills, and took a 2-0 lead into the break.

The Bucs got behind quickly in the third set after a couple of errors, 8-2. ETSU cut the lead to 13-10, but the Dolphins continued to increase their lead going up 20-12 after a four-point run. Jacksonville put the game away on a couple big blocks to make the final 25-19.
