Bucs make quick work of Fighting Camels, 6-1

Buies CREEK, N.C. (March 20, 2009) - In its first match in over a week the ETSU men's tennis team continued to roll in Atlantic Sun Conference action dropping league foe Campbell, 6-1 Friday afternoon at the Nisbet Tennis Center in Buies Creek, N.C. With the win ETSU improves to 4-7 overall and a perfect 3-0 in A-Sun action, while Campbell falls to 10-5 and 2-1 in conference play.

The No. 63rd-ranked Bucs looked strong early sweeping the doubles point. In match No. 1 seniors Enrique Olivares (Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela) and Alex Ahlgren (Tyreso, Sweden), who is currently ranked No. 56 in the latest ITA rankings, made quick work of Campbell's Davy Sum and Lubos Sobotka, 8-6.

ETSU followed that up as junior Daniel Isaza (Medellin, Colombia) and freshman Robin Akser (Ornskoldsvik, Sweden) dropped Larbi Lamzouri and Beto Mondini, 8-5, while sophomores Grega Teraz (Mojstrana, Slovenia) and Charles Bottoni (Bois Guillaume, France) closed out the pairs' matches by defeating Loukas Wallaart and Ian Kahler, 8-1.

As singles play opened Olivares dropped his first set to Sum 3-6, however showing his character and toughness the No. 11-ranked singles player in the nation responded by taking the final two sets 6-4, 6-2, giving the Bucs a two-point advantage.
