No. 60 Bucs extend A-Sun streak to 28 crushing UNF, 4-0

BRISTOL, Tenn. (March 27, 2009) - Playing its best tennis of the season the ETSU men's tennis team made quick work of Atlantic Sun Conference foe North Florida, 4-0 Friday night inside the Bristol Racquet Club in Bristol, Tenn.

 

The Bucs (6-7, 4-0 A-Sun) opened play rolling past UNF (9-6, 4-3 A-Sun) in the doubles portion of the match winning both its early pairs matches. Seniors Enrique Olivares (Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela) and Alex Ahlgren (Tyreso, Sweden) blew past Federico Levi and Marc Misanovic 8-5, while sophomores Charles Bottoni (Bois Guillaume, France) and Grega Teraz (Mojstrana, Slovenia) swung past Marcos Chiaretti and Kurt Gattiker.

 

As singles play opened No.11-ranked Olivares made quick work of Levi 6-2, 6-1 blowing a number of aces past the UNF senior during the two-set win.

 

Teraz gave the No. 60th-ranked Bucs a 3-0 advantage dropping senior Graham Edgar in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. Freshman Sander Gille (Kuringen, Belgium) struggled early in his match, but rallied past Ronnie Sang in No. 2 action 7-5 closing out the first set. The Buc newcomer then domainted Sang in second set blanking the UNF junior 6-0 giving ETSU the 4-0 win.

 

 

The Bucs will now return to action Saturday as the ETSU host Jacksonville at the Bristol Country Club in Bristol, Tenn.
