Athletic department begins systematic rollout of new campaign

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Aug. 18, 2008) - Whether visible on an I-26 billboard, plastered on a yard sign in a neighbor's yard, heard during a 30-second radio advertisement, or in a direct mail piece coming to an alumni's mailbox, the ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has begun a systematic rollout of its new campaign to build spirit in ETSU athletics.

Wear. Live. Think. Dream. BLUE -- The slogan for the new campaign will represent a unifying and singular statement to be a mantra for current student-athletes, fans, administrators and alumni. Developed by the department's external relations staff, the campaign began with a new billboard centrally located on I-26 in the heart of Johnson City. It will continue over the next two weeks as a comprehensive 26-page Fan Blue Book will arrive at the homes of 30,000 ETSU alumni throughout Northeast Tennessee and the entire Southeastern United States.

"It is our hope that this campaign will inform our supporters of the successes we are enjoying in this department, while also inspiring them and others to join the Buccaneer Athletic Scholarship Association, buy season tickets, visit our web site, wear their ETSU logo and colors with pride, and simply feel a spirited connection to our program," said ETSU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dave Mullins. "We believe the 30,000 Fan Blue Books give an overall synopsis of what we are doing to promote season ticket sales for all our sports, how BASA works to support our department, and how successful we have been on the field of play and in the classroom.

"The other elements of the campaign - the billboards, radio and TV spots, newspaper ads, and website links - are designed to brand our logo and the ETSU athletic image throughout the area."

Fans wishing to learn more about the campaign can do so by visiting ETSUBucs.com and clicking on the Wear. Live. Think. Dream. BLUE. Banner and clicking on the Fan Book link. More information and promotional opportunities regarding the campaign will be released via ETSUBucs.com in the near future.
