JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (June 2, 2009) - Like the motto says "Good things come in small packages."

And that is exactly what head ETSU softball coach Andrea Mangrum is getting and more, after she announced Mikayla Treadway (Unicoi, Tenn.) has signed to play with the Lady Bucs on Tuesday afternoon.

Treadway, a 5-foot shortstop from Unicoi County High School, is now the second Blue Devil player to sign with the Lady Bucs in 2009-10 - joining teammate Whitley Hensley (Erwin, Tenn.). Both Treadway and Hensley had productive seasons and led the Blue Devils to a 2009 TSSA Class AA State Championship.

Treadway posted a team-high .450 batting average in 2009 and also led Unicoi County with 77 hits, 52 runs scored and a .505 on-base percentage. With her success this season, Treadway was named All-District and All-Conference, along with being selected to the Johnson City Press Northeast Tennessee Sweet Sixteen Team. In her four-year career, Treadway hit .402 (182-for-453) with 156 runs scored, 88 RBIs, and 48 stolen bases.

"Mikayla is a left-handed hitter with speed and power," said Mangrum. "She will work middle infield and outfield for us next fall. Mikayla is small in size but has one of the biggest hearts I have ever seen in a ball player we have recruited. Our program will be better with the addition of Mikayla because she will be committed to the success of this team."
