JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 26, 2008) - After withstanding two weeks of vigorous practices and workouts, the ETSU softball team is set to take the field for its second annual Blue/Gold Fall Tournament, which takes place this Saturday at Metro-Kiwanis Park.

The single day tournament will pin the Lady Bucs against three local teams, and every game for ETSU is to be played on field one. ETSU kicks off the tournament against King College at 10 a.m.

Following their game with the Tornado, the Lady Bucs will have no time to rest, as they take on Roane State at noon. ETSU closes out play versus Mars Hill at 6 p.m.

Juniors Cheniece Cason (Moreno Valley, Calif.) and Trisha Massenzo (Russellville, Tenn.) each started all 63 games for the Lady Bucs a year ago and look to give ETSU a boost in 2008-09. Massenzo led the team in doubles (12) and home runs (7); while Cason's lightning speed poses a threat for the opposition. Senior Jessie Hackworth (Clinton, Tenn.) closed out the 2008 season on a tear and hopes to carry the momentum into the Fall Tournament. Hackworth was named to the Atlantic Sun All-Tournament Team after going 6-for-12 (.500) with a home run, two runs scored and four RBI in DeLand, Fla.
