ETSU junior heads into A-Sun Championship looking to defend title

MACON, Ga. (April 1, 2009) - ETSU's Laura Jansone's (Jurmala, Latvia) second-place showing at the UNC Wilmington Lady Seahawk helped propel her squad to a team title and helped her claim a second Golfer of the Month award, the conference office announced on Wednesday.

Jansone, a junior from Jurmala, Latvia, posted a second place and 11th place finish during the month. At the UNC Wilmington Lady Seahawk Intercollegiate, Jansone led the Bucs to a team title in the event with her team-best second place showing. During the month, the interior design major posted two rounds of par or better, and finished the month with a stroke average of 74.5

The Buccaneers will next tee it up on Monday, April 13 at Victoria Hills Country Club in DeLand, Fla. as they begin defense of their A-Sun Championship. Jansone will also be defending the individual title - a title she won by a single stroke over fellow nominee, Belmont's Lorie Warren, and Campbell's Belen Diaz Cisneros.
