ROCKY FACE, Ga. (Sept. 14, 2008) - After two strong rounds to open the 2008-09 season, the ETSU men's golf team found plenty of adversity during Sunday's third and final round in the Carpet Capital Collegiate at the Farm Golf Club.

The 14th-ranked Buccaneers - who had entered the day just three strokes out of the lead - fired the second highest team score of the third round, posting an 18-over 306 to drop from second place to a final standing of 12th in the 18-team field. ETSU's former Southern Conference rival Chattanooga, which held the lead entering the day, ultimately held off the field and won the championship by five strokes over another in-state rival, Tennessee.

Clemson's Kyle Stanley captured the individual title with a final round 69 to finish at 8-under for the tournament, while Chattanooga's Jonathan Hodge and South Carolina's Allen Koon tied for second at 3-under.

For ETSU,  junior Seamus Power (Waterford, Ireland) had the team's best individual showing, ending the event tied for 30th at 4-over 220. Power fired a 1-over 73 on Sunday, but no other ETSU player scored lower than a 77 on the day. Freshman Michael Stewart (Troon, Scotland) finished his first collegiate event with a respectable 33rd-place showing.

The Bucs will return to action Sept. 22 at the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate. For more on ETSU men's golf throughout the season, visit ETSUBucs.com and click on the men's golf link.
