JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (Oct. 20, 2008) - With a rich history of highlighting some of the nation's best collegiate golf, ETSU will host the 11th annual Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at The Ridges Oct. 24-26.

The resume of former competitors in the BOT Intercollegiate includes PGA and European Tour winners such as Matt Kuchar (Georgia Tech), Lucas Glover (Clemson), Camillo Villegas (Florida), David Gossett (Texas), Anthony Kim (Oklahoma), Luke Donald (Northwestern), Jonathan Byrd (Clemson), D.J. Trahan (Clemson), Carl Pettersson (N.C. State) and Graeme McDowell (UAB). This year, 14 of the nation's top teams will descend on The Ridges for the three-day, three-round event Oct. 24-26, with a practice round scheduled for Oct. 23.

"There's no doubt this tournament has become one of the top events in college golf," said ETSU head coach Fred Warren, who watched former ETSU standout Rhys Davies capture back-to-back individual titles in the event during 2005 and 2006. "This year we have another strong field, with three teams making their first visit to the tournament. Winning this event is always considered a big step toward having a great season."

Along with Missouri, Mississippi and Ohio State - all of which are teams making their first-ever appearances in the event - the field features six squads that were ranked in the national preseason Top 25. Some of those highly-ranked squads include ETSU, Tennessee, Ohio State, N.C. State, Wake Forest, Mississippi, Auburn and UAB.

Individually, players such as last year's champion Chris Paisley of Tennessee and his teammate Robin Wingardh - who won this year's Preview event - as well as preseason All-American Zach Sucher of UAB and the nation's current No. 1-ranked player Matt Hill of N.C. State will be among those in the field. As for host ETSU Buccaneers, freshman Rhys Enoch (Cornwall, England) will be returning to collegiate play this week after spending the last several days playing in Australia at the World Amateur. Enoch already has an individual win this season, capturing the Shoal Creek Invitational title.

Live scoring for the event will be available at Golfstat.com or by visiting ETSUBucs.com and clicking on the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at The Ridges Logo.
