Power leads Bucs to tie for sixth after first day at Arizona Intercollegiate

TUCSON, Ariz. (Feb. 2, 2009) - The 24th-ranked ETSU men's golf team opened its 2009 spring schedule on Monday, finishing the day tied for sixth as second round play was postponed due to darkness at the Arizona Intercollegiate hosted at the Arizona National Golf Club. Second and third round play will wrap up on Tuesday.
ETSU junior Seamus Power (Waterford, Ireland) is leading the way for the Buccaneers. After firing a first round score of 4-over-par 75, he followed up that effort with a current score of 5-under-par after 15 holes in the second round. He currently stands at 1-under for the event.
The Bucs are tied for sixth and currently 12 strokes back of No. 43 Pepperdine, which holds the team lead at 2-under for the event. Individually, Coastal Carolina's Zack Byrd leads by two strokes over Tennessee's Chris Paisley.
While Power has posted six birdies in the second round to move into a tie for sixth on the individual leaderboard, teammate and senior Jordan Findlay (Fraserburgh, Scotland) is currently tied for 20th after posting a team-best score of 1-over 73 in the first round. He currently stands at 2-over for the tournament midway through the second round. Findlay was joined at 1-over 73 in the first round by sophomore Rhys Enoch (Cornwall, England).
