ETSU's Allen Racks up RBI; Wins A-Sun Weekly Award

MACON, Ga. (May 5, 2008)  - The ETSU offense exploded last week to the tune of 91 runs in five wins, led by Ben Allen's 12 RBI, including seven in a single game while earning the Atlantic Sun Player of the Week award, the conference office announced on Monday.

 

In leading the Buccaneers to a 5-0 week, Allen, a junior business major from Kingsport, Tenn., hit .435 with ten hits. In Saturday's 23-6 rout of Maryland-Eastern Shore, he went 4-for-6 at the dish, highlighted by a grand slam in the seventh inning. For the game, Allen racked up seven RBI, as part of a 12-RBI week. Allen did not strike out in any of the five games keeping him among the 25 toughest players in the nation to strike out. His grand slam was part of a 13-homer week, as the Buccaneers set a school single-season record with 68 home runs.

 

The award is the first for Allen in his ETSU career and the first A-Sun player of the week for the Bucs. Allen is batting .313 on the season with 52 hits, ten doubles, four home runs and 33 RBI.
