Sunday, September 16, 2007

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 16, 2007) - ETSU posted a 1-0-1 record and captured the team championship at the inaugural ETSU Invitational presented by Citizens Bank this weekend behind the offensive leadership of MVP junior Katie Green. Western Carolina's Caitlin Williams was named the Defensive MVP.

Twelve players in all, three from each team, were named to the ETSU Invitational All-Tournament Team.

While Green did not score during the tournament, her play on the field helped create many attacking opportunities that led to goals for the Bucs. She tied teammate Jordan Monty with seven shots for the tournament.

Williams earned the tournament's Defensive MVP honor after recording four saves in a shutout against Stetson. She also recorded six saves against ETSU and only allowed one goal on the weekend.

ETSU placed midfielder Jordan Monty who recorded the game-tying goal against Tennessee Tech on the all-tournament team, while midfielder Kelly Brinkman who recorded the game-winning goal against Western Carolina was also honored with a spot on the team. Goalkeeper Erin Bilyeu was also named to the all-tournament team.

For Western Carolina, Caitlin Williams was joined by teammates forward Rachael Shomper and midfielder Heather Dittmer.

Stetson's Jessica Spencer earned a spot on the all-tournament team after scoring Sunday's game-winning goal in her team's 3-0 victory over Tennessee Tech. Her teammates midfielder Kelsey Kramer and midfielder Julianne Turnbull were also named to the team.
