JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 30, 2007) - The ETSU women's soccer team fell to the Jacksonville Dolphins in a grueling 3-2 match at Summers-Taylor Stadium on Sunday. The Bucs fall to 4-3-2 overall and 0-2-0 in conference play while the Dolphins improve to 4-6-0, 2-0-0.

Jacksonville got on the board early as Keri Zwikker scored on a pass from Emilie Howland in the ninth minute, but the Bucs continued to battle, as Kelly Brinkman (Clearwater, Fla.) was able to net her fourth goal of the season from the top of the box. Terri Miller (Cape Coral, Fla.) and Jordan Monty (Mesquite, Texas) provided the assists on the game-tying goal.

In the second period, ETSU's Katie Green (Knoxville, Tenn.) gave the Bucs a 2-1 lead as she shot the ball past Jacksonville keeper Lorna Brownlie in the 61st minute.

However Jacksonville tied the match at 2-2 when Jelena Vrcelj scored from the near corner of the box in the 68th minute. The Dolphins would then take the 3-2 lead as Zwikker netted her second goal of the night on a corner kick from Tamara Cormier at the 74:23 mark.

ETSU continued to battle and earned a corner kick with under five minutes left in the match but were unable to convert.

"We came out sluggish in the first half and when we don't come out ready to play we're going to give up at least one goal," said head coach Heather Henson. "We were able to battle back and we were able to create some attacking opportunities and we outshot them in the first half. We made some mistakes defensively and Jacksonville did an excellent job of converting on our mistakes. We need to minimize those mistakes and convert on our attacking opportunities."

Green led the way offensively for the Bucs with five shots while Monty, Brinkman and Miller all contributed five. Senior Katie O'Bryan (Hampton, Va.) had three shots on the day.

The Bucs will begin a two-match road swing as they travel to the Music City to take on Belmont on October 5 at 4:30 p.m. CST before facing Lipscomb on October 7. For all ETSU women's soccer action, visit www.ETSUBucs.com.
