JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 3, 2008) - The Lady Buccaneers are in the midst of a season-long five-game winning streak, and they look to push it to six games this Monday night when the Mercer Bears visit Memorial Center. Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m.

ETSU (11-10, 7-1), who has the second longest active win steak in the Atlantic Sun, is currently tied atop the league standings with Jacksonville. Much of the reason for that is due to the early wake-up call they received from Gardner-Webb last month. Since falling to the Runnin' Bulldogs, the Lady Bucs have been a completely different team as they have tallied six straight conference wins.

The Lady Bucs' success deals with the fact that ETSU distributes the ball and finds the open scorer quite often. Six different Lady Buccaneer players have led the team in scoring this season, and four ETSU players are averaging over 10 points per game in A-Sun action. Sophomore Siarre Evans (Griffin, Ga.) leads the team in the category (12.4ppg), but Michele DeVault (Columbus, Ohio), Jenny Norman (Peachtree City, Ga.) and TaRonda Wiles (Danville, Va.) also highlight the scoring attack for head coach Karen Kemp's club. Norman is adding 11.1 points, Wiles 10.8 and DeVault is at 10.6. In addition, sophomore post Latisha Belcher (Martinsville, Va.) is not far behind, averaging 9.8 points and a team-leading 8.1 boards in the eight conference games. Belcher also leads the club with 2.4 steals per contest. In total, 10 of the 13 Lady Buc players have clipped the double-digit scoring plateau at least once this season, and six have accomplished the feat on multiple occasions.

Mercer is coming off its first conference win of the season after downing USC Upstate, 74-61, Saturday afternoon. The victory snapped a 12-game losing streak for the Bears, as four different Mercer player scored in double figures against the Spartans. TaShera Lewis led the way for Mercer with her first double-double this season. Lewis notched season-highs with 18 points and 13 rebounds. LaToya Jackson continued her stretch of knocking down four triples en route to 16 points. Kourtney Carter added 12 points and eight rebounds, and Sarah Russell contributed 10 points.

The Bears are currently 4-17, 1-7, and have only won one game away from Macon in 13 contests. As a team, Mercer is being outscored 71.4 to 56.3 (-15.1) and are also being out-rebounded by almost eight per game (44.4-36.7). Jackson leads the team in scoring (12.0); while Russell is the leading rebounder at 6.5 boards per game.
