KNOXVILLE, Tenn. AND GREENVILLE, S.C. (April 12, 2008) - Junior Josh Cloyd (Telford, Tenn.) enjoyed a solid Saturday afternoon at the Sea Relays on the Tom Black Track inside LaPorte Stadium.

Cloyd just missed a lifetime best in long jump, posting a leap of 24-00.25 (7.32m) for a 10th place mark. The Telford, Tenn. native achieved a personal best in the event at the 2007 NAIA Outdoor National Championships with a result of 24.00.75 (7.33m).

"Josh is jumping very well right now and had a great weekend," added associate head coach Michelle Byrne. "He just missed a lifetime best today and hopefully can break the mark as the season progresses."

Sophomore Kenneth Rotich (Nairobi, Kenya) - who was competing in the 5000m for the first time this outdoor season - placed ninth with a time of 15:20.90.

The men's 4x100-meter relay team faced some stiff competition and turned in a 10th place finish. The relay squad beat out the likes of Illinois, Louisville, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati with a time of 41.68.

"Our men's team beat out some good schools today, but we were hoping to break the time we set last weekend at Florida (41.20)," added Byrne.

The remaining Buccaneer track and field team was in action at Furman on Saturday; however, results were not posted at the media the center.

ETSU's track and field returns to action next weekend when they compete in Louisville, Ky. at the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational.
