Knox advances into 100m final; ETSU's 4x100 relay team falls short at Mideast Regional

FAYETTVILLE, Ark. (May 30, 2008) - A year ago Jenny Knox (Connelly Springs, N.C.) felt like a small fish in a big pond at the Mideast Regional; however, the red-shirt senior used the extra season of experience to her advantage and cruised her way into tomorrow's final of the 100m dash on Friday at the 2008 Regional, hosted by the University of Arkansas at John McDonnell Field.
Knox, who qualified for a spot into the 25-woman field by posting a school-record time of 11.63 at the Atlantic Sun Championships about two weeks ago, beat out
"I am very proud to see Jenny advance into the finals," commented associate head coach Michelle Byrne. "She placed herself in the hunt for the NCAA Championships and hopefully she is one of the top five finishers tomorrow."
Prior to Knox's stellar performance in the 100 meters, she helped run a leg in the 4x100-meter relay. Unfortunately, for the Lady Bucs' quartet of Knox, Nae-Nae Bailey (
"Unfortunately we did not finish in the top eight today, but these girls ran their hearts out and laid everything out on the line," added Byrne.
The ETSU student-athletes will now cheer Knox on Saturday afternoon when she takes the blocks for the 100m finals at 6:05 p.m.
