JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Aug. 28, 2007) - Freshman Desiree Dyck (Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan) tied her season best with 18 kills, leading the ETSU volleyball team to a home opening win Tuesday night at Brooks Gym, defeating Tusculum in four games, 30-28, 30-27, 24-30, 30-21.

"I am pleased that we won our home opener," said Lady Bucs head coach Lindsey Devine. "It was a good opportunity to get everyone out on the court. "

With the win the Lady Bucs extend their record home winning streak to nine games. The streak dates back to Sept. 24, 2006 when the Lady Bucs defeated Eastern Kentucky 3-0.

Along with her 18 kills, Dyck also had three service aces and two blocks. Laura Waddell (Lynchburg, Va.) had double digit kills in her third straight game with 12. The Lady Bucs also had contributions from Kaena Apana (Waianae, Hawaii), who had 20 digs, and Courtnie McKinney (St. Louis, Mo.), who picked up her first career kill in game two.

"I am happy for Courtnie." Devine said. "It is important for them to get that first one out of the way so that it becomes routine for them."

The Lady Bucs now head back on the road for two weeks, as they will travel to Elon, S.C., for the Phoenix Classic. The Lady Bucs' first game of the tournament will be on Aug. 31 at 4:30 p.m., against the host Lady Phoenix.
