JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 21, 2008) - ETSU volleyball head coach Lindsey Devine announced the 2008 schedule Monday. The schedule features NCAA tournament participants Western Kentucky and Lipscomb as well as in-state rival Tennessee.
The Bucs start the season Aug. 29-30 on the road in Greeneville, N.C. as they will take on East Carolina, Howard and High Point in the East Carolina Tournament. ETSU then heads to Huntington, W. Va. on Sept. 5-6 for the Marshall Tournament where they will face the host Thundering Herd, Virginia Tech and Western Kentucky.
Other non-conference games include four home games against Appalachian State a on Sept. 16, in-state rival Tennessee on Oct. 14, Western Carolina on Oct. 28 and Radford on Nov. 4.
The Bucs open conference play on Sept. 9 as they will host USC Upstate. The conference home games include Jacksonville (Sept.19), North Florida (Sept. 20), Kennesaw State (Oct. 3), Mercer (Oct. 4), Florida Gulf Coast (Oct. 24), Stetson (Oct. 25), Belmont (Nov. 7), Lipscomb (Nov. 8) and Campbell (Nov. 14).
Conference road games include Lipscomb (Sept. 12), Belmont (Sept. 13), Stetson (Sept. 26), Florida Gulf Coast (Sept. 27), Campbell (Oct. 11), Mercer (Oct. 17), Kennesaw State (Oct. 18), North Florida (Oct. 31), Jacksonville (Nov. 1) and USC Upstate (Nov. 11).
The Atlantic Sun conference tournament will be held from Nov. 19-22 in Macon, Ga. at Mercer University.
Starting in 2008, games will be played to 25 points instead of 30 points after the NCAA rules committee agreed to make the change. Also team substitutions have been changed to 12 per game.
