In the Navy flight senior Olya Batsula (Minsk, Belarus) received a first round bye and then went on to defeat Hayley Wahl of Elon, 6-1, 6-3 to advance to the semifinal round, while newcomer Andra Voinea (Brasov, Romania) picked up her first two collegiate wins defeating UNC Greensboro's Courtney Akel, 3-6, 6-3, 11-9 and Kristin Gordon of East Carolina, 6-1, 6-0 to advance to the semifinal round.

"Overall we had a good first day. We went undefeated today and all of three of the girls are in the semifinals tomorrow," said head coach Steve Brooks. "It's a really good and fun tournament and we're having a good time down here."
