CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (Oct. 18, 2007) - Three members of the ETSU men's tennis team and two doubles teams advanced on Thursday at the ITA Mideast Regional Championships at the University of Virginia. Action will continued on Friday with two rounds of singles and a round of doubles.

Senior Oscar Posada (Valencia, Venezuela) defeated Winthrop's Rodrigo Santos, 7-5, 6-3 in the Round of 128. He will face North Carolina State's Jay Weinacker in the Round of 64. Enrique Olivares (Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela) cruised past Ivan Salec of Radford, 6-4, 6-2, while Lisandro Picardo (Mar del Plata, Argentina) breezed by Elon's Mason Schermerhorn in the Round of 128. Olivares will square off against Dominic Inglot of Virginia and Picardo will take on Duke's Reid Carlton.

Also competing in the Round of 128 Sebastian Serrano (Cartagena, Colombia) fell to David Goulet of Duke, 6-3, 7-5 while Predrag Burmazovic (Belgrade, Serbia) fell to North Carolina State's Chris Welte in a hard fought match, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3.

In doubles action Picardo and Daniel Isaza (Medellin, Colombia) defeated Stephen Allsop and Joey Estevez of North Carolina Central, 8-0 in the qualifying match before falling to Sandy Franz and Renzo Aivaldi of USC Upstate, 8-3 in the first round of the main draw.

The duo of Olivares and Serrano prevailed over Georgia Tech's Scott Blackmon and Ryan Smith in a tight 9-8 (7) match while Alex Ahlgren (Tyreso, Sweden) and Posada defeated Andrew Lee and Matt Martin of Presbyterian College, 8-5. Olivares and Serrano will face Sandeep Daiya and Tristan Heinrich of North Carolina while Ahlgren and Posada will take on Sebastian Jacque and Yoann Re of Virginia Tech.
