No. 46 ETSU drops Florida Gulf Coast, 6-1

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 21, 2008) - The 46th-ranked ETSU men's tennis team defeated the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles, 6-1 on Friday afternoon. The Bucs improve to 14-3 overall and 4-0 in conference action while the Eagles fall to 7-6, 1-3.

 

ETSU claimed the doubles point and earned a 1-0 advantage as Oscar Posada (Valencia, Venezuela) and Alex Ahlgren (Tyreso, Sweden) defeated Brenton Bacon and Ricardo Hernandez, 8-6 in the No. 1 position while Enrique Olivares (Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela) and Sebastian Serrano (Cartagena, Colombia) dropped Mikkel Muller and Andrew Kam, 8-2 in the No. 2 slot. The Bucs completed the sweep as Lisandro Picardo (Mal del Plata, Argentina) and Daniel Isaza (Medellin, Colombia) cruised past Ervin Garibovic and Danny Lee, 8-3 in the third position.  

 

The Bucs kept the momentum going as 67th-ranked Enrique Olivares defeated Ricardo Hernandez, 6-0, 6-4 while Predrag Burmazovic (Belgrade, Serbia) dropped Mikkel Muller, 6-0, 6-2 in the third position. No. 95 Lisandro Picardo kept his unbeaten streak going as he defeated Andrew Kam, 6-3, 6-2 in the fourth slot while Oscar Posada dropped Ervin Garibovic, 7-6, 6-2 in the No. 5 position. Alex Ahlgren picked up a win for the Bucs in the sixth position as he cruised past Danny Lee, 6-1, 6-1.

 

The Eagles earned their lone point as Brenton Bacon defeated Sebastian Serrano in a hard-fought match, 6-7, 7-5, 10-3.
