Friday, April 04, 2008

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 4, 2008) - The No. 46 ETSU men's tennis team defeated Campbell, 7-0 on Friday afternoon inside Memorial Center. The Bucs improve to 18-3 on the year and 8-0 in conference play while the Camels fall to 14-5, 6-2.

ETSU claimed the doubles point for a 1-0 advantage as they swept all three matches. In the No. 1 position Alex Ahlgren (Tyreso, Sweden) and Oscar Posada (Valencia, Venezuela) defeated Davy Sum and Gabriel Delarue, 8-7 while Enrique Olivares (Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela) and Sebastian Serrano (Cartagena, Colombia) dropped Larbi Lamzouri and Marc Sifre, 8-2 in the second position. The duo of Daniel Isaza (Medellin, Colombia) and Lisandro Picardo (Mar del Plata, Argentina) completed the sweep for the Bucs defeating Sebastian Thesleff and Loukas Wallaart, 8-4.

The Bucs then swept all six singles points for the 7-0 victory. In the No. 1 slot No. 77 Enrique Olivares defeated Davy Sum, 6-3, 7-6 while Predrag Burmazovic (Belgrade, Serbia) dropped Gabriel Delarue, 7-5, 6-0 in the No. 2 position. In the No. 3 slot Sebastian Serrano cruised past Larbi Lamzouri, 6-1, 6-4 while Lisandro Picardo remained perfect in dual play and is now 15-0 on the season, defeating Marc Sifre, 6-0, 6-3 in the fourth position. In the No. 5 slot Oscar Posada defeated Sebastian Thesleff, 6-0, 6-3 while Daniel Isaza defeated Loukas Wallaart in the sixth position, 6-2, 6-2.

"We played very, very well today. There were a couple of tough matches and some of the kids had a difficult time adjusting to play in the indoor facility. Campbell is a very good team outside but the weather situation forced us to play indoors. We just played very hard and were able to pull away," said head coach Yaser Zaatini.

The Bucs will be back in action tomorrow April 5 as they take on Gardner-Webb. The match is set to begin at Noon. Follow all ETSU men's tennis action at www.ETSUBucs.com.
