Bucs set to open home schedule against Eastern Kentucky
Friday, November 16, 2007
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 16, 2007) -- The ETSU men's basketball team will open its regular season home schedule on Saturday in a battle of two teams that won conference championships a year ago.
The Buccaneers -- the defending Atlantic Sun Conference regular season champions -- will meet Eastern Kentucky -- the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament champions -- inside Memorial Center with tip scheduled for 4 p.m. This will be the 49th meeting between the two schools, who were longtime rivals during their days together in the OVC. The Colonels currently own a 28-20 advantage in the all-time series, including a win last year in Richmond.
ETSU will be looking to rebound from a season opening loss last Saturday at Dayton, a game in which the Bucs led for most of the contest only to fall in the final minutes 78-74. Junior guard Courtney Pigram (Memphis), the reigning A-Sun Player of the Year, enjoyed a strong night against the Flyers, scoring 30 points on 11-of-23 shooting from the floor.
