Monday, July 09, 2007
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (July 9, 2007) - The National Golf Coaches Association announced Monday its 2006-07 All-American Scholar Teams for Division I, and the ETSU women's golf team made an impressive showing on the squad.
In all, four ETSU golfers made the list of 368 total student-athletes, and the Buccaneers' overall team grade point average of 3.54 ranked among the nation's Top 25 squads. The criteria to earn selection to the team included a minimum GPA of 3.50, and student-athletes must have competed in at least 50 percent of their team's regularly scheduled rounds during the year.
Individually, rising sophomore Laura Jansone (Jurmala, Latvia), rising junior Lucy Gould (Bargoed, Wales), and rising seniors Maria Ringdahl (Oland, Sweden) and Natalia Giraldo (Cali, Colombia) made the All-American team.
"I am extremely proud of the team for once again averaging above a 3.5 cumulative GPA this year," said ETSU head coach Stefanie Reynolds. "To have four of six team members selected to the All-Scholar team is quite an accomplishment. They should be very proud of each other for this achievement individually and as a team."
