GREENVILLE, S.C. (Oct. 20, 2007) - Sophomore Laura Jansone (Jurmala, Latvia) fired a 1-over 73 Saturday to take a three stroke lead on the individual leaderboard following second round play in the Lady Paladin Invitational hosted at the Furman University Golf Course.

Despite Jansone's strong play, struggles by others on the ETSU squad caused the Bucs to relinquish its first round team lead and the squad now trails TCU by seven strokes on the leaderboard heading into Sunday's third and final round. TCU currently stands at 597 (300-297) for the tournament, while the Bucs are at 604 (299-305).

"We didn't post the type of team score we would have liked today," said ETSU head coach Stefanie Reynolds Shelton. "But we're still in it and we are capable of coming out tomorrow and shooting scores that will get us back in it. We're still playing very well and beating teams that are ranked higher than we are."

Jansone will enter the final round as no stranger to playing at the top, having won one event already in her young career and finishing runner up two other times. The sophomore is finding her game at the right time.

"Laura has been in this situation before and I think she handles it well," Reynolds Shelton said. "She was off to a slow start this fall, but she's really showing how talented she is right now."

Aside from Jansone's strong effort on Saturday, no other ETSU player was able to score lower than a 77. Currently, senior Maria Ringdahl (Oland, Sweden) is tied for 14th at 9-over for the tournament, while junior Lucy Gould (Bargoed, Wales) is tied for 19th and senior Natalia Giraldo is tied for 31st.

Sunday's third and final round is scheduled for a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Fans can get a complete wrap up of the day's events by visiting ETSUBucs.com at the conclusion of play.
