HICKORY, N.C. (Mar. 20, 2007) - Senior Justin Aughey's (Davie, Fla.) tenth inning double scored two runs, breaking a 6-6 tie, and the Baseball Bucs rallied for the ninth time this season, posting an 8-6 extra inning victory over Appalachian State Tuesday night at L.P. Frans Stadium in Hickory, N.C.

Senior C.J. Lee (Bristol, Va.) reached with a one-out double to right center field, and junior Anthony Russell (Waldorf, Md.) followed with a walk.  After a pop out, Aughey stepped to the plate and stroked Appalachian State reliever Garrett Sherrill's 2-2 offering deep into the left center gap, plating the go-ahead runs.

"Once again our guys showed tremendous heart and character tonight," said head coach Tony Skole.  "This is another great win for us, and hopefully we'll keep the momentum going this weekend."

Designated hitter Andrew Franco staked the Mountaineers to a 3-0 lead in the third inning with a bases loaded, base clearing double to center field.  Franco scored later in the inning on catcher Jerod Faggart's double to left center.

The Bucs (16-7) scored three times in the fifth inning, cutting the Appalachian lead to one.  Lee led off the inning with a single to left field, and Russell blasted his sixth home run of the season for the first two ETSU runs.  Aughey singled later in the inning and after moving to third on consecutive wild pitches, scored when freshman Tanner Moore (Chattanooga, Tenn.) reached on a throwing error by ASU starter Chris Patterson.

Russell's single up the middle in the sixth inning scored freshman Ryan Self (Mount Juliet, Tenn.) from second and evened the score at four.

The Mountaineers (11-11) scored two more runs in the bottom of the sixth, as Franco delivered again, scorching a double to the left center field gap and scoring Jason Altenhof from third and David Rubinstein from first.

The Bucs evened the game again in the seventh, stringing together three consecutive hits with two outs.  Senior Michael Courtney (Knoxville, Tenn.) started the rally with a soft line drive single to left field, and scored a batter later on sophomore Ben Allen's (Kingsport, Tenn.) double to the left field corner.  Freshman Justin Tramble (Marietta, Ga.) followed with the game-tying single, plating Allen with a line shot to right field.

Jason Altenhof led off the eighth inning with a double down the left field line, but after a 53 minute rain delay, ETSU reliever Tony Lombardi (Windsor, Calif.) induced a pair of groundouts and notched a huge strikeout, ending the threat.

Senior Caleb Glafenhein (Knoxville, Tenn.) pitched the final two innings, improving to 7-1 on the season.  Sherrill fell to 4-2, surrendering both 10th inning runs.

The Bucs are back in action Saturday afternoon in Jacksonville, Fla. taking on North Florida in an Atlantic Sun Conference doubleheader.  First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
