MACON, Ga. (Jan. 22, 2007) - Freshman Siarre Evans (Griffin, Ga.) was named Atlantic Sun Player of the Week on Monday, making it a clean sweep for ETSU basketball after senior Brad Nuckles (Council, Va.) claimed the award earlier today on the men's side. Evans received the honor after posting back-to-back double-doubles over North Florida and Jacksonville this past weekend.

Evans helped lead the Lady Bucs to yet another A-Sun sweep over the weekend as ETSU knocked off UNF, 87-48, on Thursday and defeated Jacksonville 68-61 on Saturday afternoon. The freshman sensation led all scorers with 21 points against the Ospreys, and finished with 15 points against the Dolphins. She posted back-to-back 12 rebound performances during the week, tying her career high. The guard was on fire on Thursday night as she shot 70 percent (7-10) from the field, and was perfect from beyond the arc (3-3). On Saturday, Evans picked up her sixth career double-double in front of the largest crowd this season (1,117 fans), and helped the Lady Bucs separate themselves from third-place Jacksonville in the conference standings.

In the two games this week for the Lady Bucs, Evans averaged 18 points and 12 rebounds in 31 minutes of action. She also totaled four assists and four steals during the week. The sports management major joins senior Brooke Wilhoit (Sevierville) as the only two ETSU players to receive the award this season. In the conference rankings Evans is tied for third in steals (2.4), and ranks fifth in scoring (14 ppg) and rebounding (7.9).

The 12-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., includes Belmont, Campbell, ETSU, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, North Florida and Stetson, with Florida Gulf Coast and USC Upstate to compete in 2007.
