NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 31, 2007) - The East Tennessee State women's basketball team is set to play its biggest game of the season Thursday night when they face instate and conference rival Belmont inside the Curb Event Center. Tip is scheduled for 8 p.m. (EST), and the game will be available on live audio by visiting www.ETSUBucs.com.

A win on Thursday night will push the Lady Bucs into a first-place tie with Belmont in the Atlantic Sun Conference standings. ETSU (12-7, 8-1 A-Sun) has won five consecutive games for the first time since the 1999-00 season, and has not lost a conference road game since March 2, 2006. The Lady Bucs are coming off a 95-88 win over Kennesaw State last Saturday as junior Michele DeVault (Columbus, Ohio) poured in a career-high 22 points.

Belmont (15-4, 9-0) enters the game riding an eight-game winning streak, and has won 18 consecutive home games.  The Bruins last home loss came on Nov. 29, 2005 when Indiana knocked them off 68-51. top team in the A-Sun received a scare in their last game as Campbell hung in there for 37 minutes; however, the Bruins closed the game on a 7-0 run to pull off the 61-54 victory. Belmont is led by sophomore Alysha Clark who is averaging 17.5 ppg along with 11.8 rpg.

The all-time series between ETSU and Belmont is tied at 3 apiece, but the Bruins have won the last two meetings. Despite outplaying Belmont in the second half, ETSU could not overcome a 20-point halftime deficit back on Jan. 6 as Belmont defeated the Lady Bucs, 78-69, thanks to a 32 point, 14 rebound effort from Alysha Clark. Freshman Siarre Evans (Griffin, Ga.) led the way for the Lady Bucs with 18 points and 12 rebounds.

The Lady Bucs will continue their stay in the Music City as they play Lipscomb on Saturday evening. Tip time is set for 5 p.m. (EST) inside Allen Arena.
