Volleyball adds two signees for 2007

Tuesday, May 22, 2007

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (May 22, 2007) - ETSU volleyball head coach Lindsey Devine has announced the signing of two more players for the upcoming season, outside hitter Des Dyck (Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan) and defensive specialist Dani Howe (Hermitage, Tenn.).

The two signees bring the Lady Bucs total signing class to seven after inking five players to national letters of intent during the fall signing period.

Howe, a 5-7 defensive specialist, lettered all four years at Father Ryan High School.  She was a member of two state championship teams, and was named All-Region in both her junior and senior seasons as well as earning All-State recognition as a senior.

"Dani will be a multi-purpose player for us," said Devine.  "She is quick, and will be able pass balls to help run our offense.  She also has the ability to swing from the outside hitter position, and, most importantly, she is passionate about the game."

Dyck was played on a three-time provincial team in high school, finishing third in 2006.  She was named Volleyball Rookie of the Year for the 2004 high school season, and was a member the the Saskatchewan Winter Games championship team in 2005.

"Des has the two key ingredients I look for in an outside player," said Devine, "great ball control and a powerful swing."

The Lady Bucs open defense of their 2006 Atlantic Sun Conference regular season title August 28 at home against Tusculum.
