            STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. (April 3, 2007) - The ETSU women's golf team moved up five spots on the final day of the John Kirk/Lady Panther Intercollegiate Tuesday at the Eagles Landing Golf Club, posting the second lowest team score of the day and  finishing the event tied for seventh in the 17-team field.

           

            ETSU ended the tournament with an overall score of 608 (309-299) to finish 23 strokes back of team champion Maryland, which enjoyed a final five stroke advantage over second place Louisville. The Lady Bucs' top individual performance came from freshman Sinead O'Sullivan (Galway, Ireland), who finished tied for 24th. Memphis' Stacey Tate won the individual championship by one stroke over Maryland's Kelly Calkin and East Carolina's Lene Krog.

 

"Today, we played like we expect to play," said ETSU head coach Stefanie Reynolds. "Yesterday, we didn't have it, but today we knew we needed to play well to keep our ranking and we had the second lowest score of the day. The team stepped up to the challenge. We're really playing very solid as a group right now."

 

Indeed, all five ETSU players finished within 11 spots of each other. Along with O'Sullivan, junior Natalia Giraldo (Cali, Colombia), junior Maria Ringdahl (Oland, Sweden) and freshman Laura Jansone (Jurmala, Latvia) finished tied for 30th, while sophomore Lucy Gould (Bargoed, Wales) ended the event tied for 35th.
