Lady Bucs still struggling at A-Sun Championships

BUIES CREEK, N.C. (April 10, 2007) - The ETSU women's golf team was unable to make a move on the leaders during second round play at the Atlantic Sun Conference Championships Tuesday at the Keith Hills Country Club.

 

Despite improving on their first round score by three strokes, the Lady Bucs are still 24 strokes off the pace set by defending champion and host Campbell, which leads the event by a comfortable 19 stroke margin over second-place Stetson. The Fighting Camels have posted a team score of 597 (296-301).

 

"We knew it was going to be tough playing on Campbell's home course," said ETSU head coach Stefanie Reynolds. "Unfortunately, we've not been able to play as well as we need to in a conference championship. Hopefully we can post a good score tomorrow and finish on a high note."

 

On the individual leaderboard, Campbell has three of the top four scores, with Alejandra Shaw posting a two-round score of 2-under 142 to lead the event by seven strokes over Stetson's Lauren Darnell. The top ETSU finisher was freshman Laura Jansone (Jurmala, Latvia), who is currently tied for fifth and 10 strokes back of Darnell.

 

Other ETSU results of note include a tie for seventh by sophomore Lucy Gould (Bargoed, Wales), while junior Maria Ringdahl (Oland, Sweden) made the largest jump up the leaderboard on Tuesday, improving 11 spots to finish tied for 17th. Junior Natalia Giraldo (Cali, Colombia) is tied for 21st, while freshman Sinead O'Sullivan () is tied for 27th.
