ETSU men's golf ranked 11th, Davies 5th in Golfweek rankings

Monday, October 30, 2006

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 30, 2006) - With a strong showing at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at the Ridges earlier this month, both the ETSU men's golf team and specifically senior Rhys Davies (Bridgend, Wales) made significant moves in the rankings released Monday by Golfweek/Sagarin.

Finishing second in their final team event of the fall at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at the Ridges, the Buccaneers moved up to No. 11 in the collegiate team rankings. In addition, Davies - a two-time, first-team All-American pick - moved to No. 5 on the individual ranking list after winning the individual championship at the same event. It was the second-straight victory for Davies in the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at the Ridges.

The Bucs have played in only three events so far this season, finishing eighth at the Carpet Capital Collegiate in Dalton, Ga., sixth at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate in Birmingham, Ala., and second at their host event.
