TUCSON, Ariz. (Jan. 29, 2007) - Freshman Seamus Power (Waterford, Ireland) fired a 69 and 68 in the first two rounds of the PING Arizona Intercollegiate, finishing at 5-under-par and tied for 10th on the individual leaderboard as the ETSU men's golf team opened its spring schedule Monday at the Arizona National Golf Club.

Power and junior Gareth Shaw (Lisburn, Northern Ireland) were bright spots on the first day of play, as the 11th-ranked Bucs are currently ninth in the 16-team field. While darkness suspended second round action, Shaw did manage to finish his first 36 holes in 4-under-par 138 to place tied for 14th on the individual leaderboard.

"We had mixed results for our first day back," said ETSU head coach Fred Warren. "This is a little bit different course for us, but we got our season underway and team wise we're middle of the pack. It wasn't what we would have liked, but there were positives to build on."

Senior Rhys Davies (Bridgend, Wales), a two-time, first-team All-American and the nation's No. 5-ranked player, opened the day with a 2-under 69, but struggles in the second round led to a disappointing 5-over 76, leaving him tied for 35th. Meanwhile, junior Cian McNamara (Limerick, Ireland) and sophomore Jordan Findlay (Fraserburgh, Scotland) were both still on the course when darkness fell.

On the team leaderboard, UNLV currently leads by one stroke over Brigham Young, while Arizona's Brian Prouty blitzed the course with a 9-under-par 62 to finish two strokes ahead of Arizona State's Niklas Lemke.
