JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 20, 2007) - After enjoying a No. 1 ranking by Golfweek earlier in the year, ETSU senior Rhys Davies (Bridend, Wales) reached that same pinnacle earlier this week at Golfstat.com.

Davies, a two-time, first-team All-American, earned the top spot in Golfstat's computer ranking by virtue of his record against the best players in the country, his currently scoring average, and the difficulty of schedule that the ETSU men's team has faced this year. For instance, Davies is currently 17-4 against the Top 25 players in the ranking, 18-1 against the Top 26-50, and a perfect 36-0 against the Top 51-100. His adjusted scoring average of 70.98 currently ranks among the best in the country.

The ranking was just more good news for a player who has spent the last four seasons rewriting the record books for ETSU golf. Having been named to his fourth Palmer Cup squad on Thursday, Davies and his teammates also just returned from winning the Atlantic Sun Conference Championships, earning his third trip to the NCAA Regionals. Davies is currently ranked No. 2 by Golfweek.
