JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (September 3, 2005) -  The ETSU women's soccer team earned its first victory of the season on Sunday with a 3-2 win over Alabama A&M, in the second and final game of the Middle Tennessee State College Classic.  The win improves the Lady Bucs record to 1-2-0 on the season.

"We out cornered the other team like we have been in our previous games, and today we were finally able to put them in the net," said head women's soccer coach Heather Henson.  "The team stuck together and persevered to get the win today."

Senior Erin Ashton (New Bern, N.C.) scored two unassisted goals for the Lady Bucs while assisting junior Emily Fulcher (New Bern, N.C.) on the final goal.

The Lady Bucs got on the board early on an Ashton goal at the 6:54 mark.  Both teams remained scoreless the rest of the first half until the 45:49 mark when Kanda Belinda made a goal to tie the score, 1-1.  Ashton shot back five minutes later with her second goal of the day to give the Lady Bucs the lead 2-1.  Rachel Sepeng scored next for Alabama A&M to tie the score for the final time 2-2.  Fulcher hit the game winning goal with five minutes left to play to give ETSU the lead for good.

Carrie Hill (Hixson, Tenn.) had six saves for the Lady Bucs while allowing only two goals.  ETSU outshot Alabama A&M 20-13 and also lead in corner kicks, 7-3.

The Lady Bucs return to Johnson City for their home opener at the Liberty Bell Soccer Complex on Friday, September 9, at 7 p.m. against Radford University.
