FAIRFAX, Va. (September 18, 2005) - The ETSU women's soccer team fell to George Mason University on Sunday, 3-1, in non-conference action at George Mason Stadium. With the loss, the Buccaneers fall to 3-4-0 on the season.

ETSU was able to hold GMU to 1-1 at the end of the first half, but in the second half, the Bucs allowed the Patriots to score two goals on six shots. Sarah Fack scored back-to-back goals in a span of two minutes to give the Patriots the win.

"We came out and scored right away and were ready to play," said head women's soccer coach Heather Henson. "We broke down defensively for seven minutes in the second half which allowed GMU to get the game-winning goal and one more on top of that. We were able to put more pressure on them towards the end, but GMU is a very good team."

Junior Rebecca Murray (Franklin, Tenn.) scored the lone goal for the Buccaneers in the fifth minute on a corner kick. The Patriots then took control of the ball for most of the half, but didn't score until the 43-minute mark as Jessica Paris kicked a lob over goalkeeper Erin Bilyeu (Murfreesboro, Tenn.). Bilyeu recorded seven saves on the day.

In the second half, the Patriots replaced their goalkeeper with Kasey Davenport, who held the Buccaneers scoreless to record her first win.

The Buccaneers travel to Florida for two games next week. Their first stop will be at Jacksonville University on Friday, September 23 for a 7 p.m. match to begin Atlantic Sun Conference play. ETSU will wrap up the weekend with a match against North Florida on Sunday, September 25 at 1 p.m.
