Women's soccer shutout by Belmont, 0-2

Saturday, October 08, 2005

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (October 8, 2005) - The ETSU women's soccer team lost to Belmont, 0-2, Saturday afternoon ending a three game winning streak.  Belmont improves to 3-8-0, 2-3-0 A-Sun, while ETSU drops to 6-7-0, 3-3-0 A-Sun.

The Buccaneers out shot the Bruins 17-5, but the Bruins made every shot attempt count. Four of the five Bruin shots were on goal.

"Belmont came off a big win against undefeated Kennesaw earlier this week and they came ready to win and play hard.  We mentally were not prepared," said women's head soccer coach Heather Henson.  "They won 50/50 balls and worked harder off the ball than we did.  We made adjustments late but we couldn't finish our opportunities and you need to do that to win games."

Belmont forward Anna Holt netted the first goal off a pass from sophomore forward Kari Lennon with 32:43 off the game clock.

Katie McCabe notched her first goal of the season as she scored off a rebound at the 63:29 marker.

Bruin keeper, Micaela Crowley grabbed her second shutout of the season and recorded three saves in the process. This was a great accomplishment considering ETSU has scored 12 goals in the last three games.

The Buccaneers return to
Johnson City for a four game home stand on Thursday, October 13th against Campbell.  Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
