JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (October 11, 2005) - Junior Jennifer Sartor (Toronto, Ontario) posted a match-high .483 hitting percentage, along with a season-high tying 17 kills, to lead the East Tennessee volleyball team to its eighth-consecutive victory on Tuesday night, as the Lady Bucs bested Western Carolina, 3-0, in Brooks Gym.  ETSU improved to 14-5 on the year, following 30-21, 30-24, and 30-18 wins.

Junior Brittany Kessel (Libertyville, Ill.) also had an outstanding showing, falling one kill short of a triple-double, with nine kills, 17 assists, and a team-high 10 digs.  Sophomore Callie Kiselich (Colorado Springs, Colo.) added nine kills, swinging .467 on the evening.

"Jen (Sartor) was on fire," said head coach Lindsey Devine.  "She and Callie (Kiselich) did a great job of controlling the middle.  Brittany (Kessel) gave us some great digs that changed the tempo of the game and gave us the momentum."

The Lady Bucs were hot from the start, as ETSU clipped off eight-straight points to turn an 11-11 game one into a convincing 19-11 lead.  ETSU led by as many as 11 points in the frame, while only allowing WCU to get within seven points in the 30-21 win.  Sartor connected on six kills in game one, as Jennifer Emerson (Santa Clara, Calif.) dished out seven of her team-high 23 assists.

"We had a good game plan coming in and executed it," said Devine.  "We knew what was coming and really did a good job of stopping WCU."

ETSU continued to control its opponent in the second frame, as Sartor belted another seven kills with Kiselich adding five of her own.  The Lady Bucs led by as many as seven, before capturing the 30-24 victory.

Game three was much the same, as the Lady Bucs made quick work of the Catamounts in a 30-18 decision.  ETSU hit .274 for the match, while holding WCU to just .084.

The Lady Bucs were solid on defense all night, as Emerson recorded nine digs, along with eight from Sartor, Kiselich, and Sarah Buhr (Stockton, Calif.).

Ellie Talbot led WCU with eight kills and nine digs, while teammate Kate Willard tallied a match-high 12 digs.  Meghan Boyle contributed a match-best 25 assists.  WCU falls to 5-15 on the year.

Along with claiming its eighth-consecutive match, ETSU is on a 12-game winning streak, dating back to last Wednesday when the Lady Bucs rallied from two games down to defeat Wofford, 3-2.  Since then, ETSU has powered through three-straight shut out victories.

"The winning streak really gives us confidence," said Devine.  "It's helping us believe in each other and put things together as a team, and that's being reflected in our results."

The Lady Bucs head back into Atlantic Sun play this weekend, as they travel to Florida for a pair of Conference matches, with North Florida on Oct. 14, at 7 p.m., and Jacksonville on Oct. 15, at 5 p.m.
