Bucs tennis defeats UC-San Diego, 6-1
Freshman Enrique Olivares continued his winning ways against the Tritons Tuesday, February 21, 2006 San Diego,
Action began with the Buccaneers claiming the doubles point with wins in all three positions. At the No. 1 doubles position, junior Oscar Posada (
ETSU again dominated in singles action, winning five of the six matches, with four of them coming in straight sets. In No. 1 singles, Oscar Posada defeated Brent Molden, 6-2, 6-3, while Felix Insaurralde defeated Eric Rubens, 6-3, 4-6, 10-6 in the No. 2 position. In the No. 3 slot, Enrique Olivares defeated Blake Meister, 6-1, 6-3. In the No. 5 position Lisandro Picardo defeated Ramesh Thondapu, 6-3, 7-5, while in the No. 6 position Sebastian Serrano defeated Richard Sabo, 6-0, 6-2. Sophomore Juan Crosa dropped his match in the No. 4 position to Erik Oijala after a hard fought set, 1-6, 6-2, 10-6.
"I think overall we competed pretty well," said head coach Yaser Zaatini, "we're still not working with all cylinders on, but most of the guys competed extremely well. "
The Buccaneers next match is scheduled for tomorrow, Feb. 22, against the
