Bucs tennis defeats Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles, 6-1
Sunday, March 05, 2006 JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 5, 2006) - The ETSU men's tennis team continued their winning ways as they defeated Tennessee Tech, 6-1. The Bucs are now 9-5 on the year while the Golden Eagles fall to 1-9 with the loss.
Action began with the Buccaneers claiming the doubles point with wins in all three positions. At the No. 1 doubles position, junior Oscar Posada (
ETSU again dominated in singles action, winning five of the six matches. In No. 1 singles, Oscar Posada was defeated by Shunsuke Shimizu after a hard fought battle, 6-3, 3-6 (6), while Felix Insaurralde defeated Borja Zarco, 6-4, 3-6, (7) in the No. 2 position. In the No. 3 slot, Juan Crosa defeated Tiago Gilioli, 6-1, 6-4. Freshman Enrique Olivares defeated Holger Schaffers, 6-1, 6-2, in the No. 4 position. In the No. 5 position Lisandro Picardo defeated Juan Carlos Rabaza, 6-1, 6-4, while in the No. 6 position Sebastian Serrano defeated James Bennett, 6-2, 6-2.
The Buccaneers next match is scheduled for Wednesday, March 8, to take on conference foe Stetson in
