Bucs tennis defeats Mercer, 6-1
Thursday, March 23, 2006 JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 23, 2006) - The ETSU men's tennis team defeated conference opponent Mercer, 6-1, today at home. The Bucs are now 15-5 on the year while the Bears fall to 7-9 with the loss. Action began with the Buccaneers claiming the doubles point with wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. At the No. 1 doubles position, freshman Juan Crosa (Asuncion, Paraguay) and Oscar Posada (Valencia, Venezuela) lost a hard-fought battle to Tobias Ohrstrom and Warren Woolfolk, 8-7 (5). ETSU again dominated in singles action, sweeping four of the six matches in straight sets. In No. 1 singles, Oscar Posada defeated Tobias Ohrstrom, 6-3, 6-4, while Felix Insaurralde was defeated after a hard-fought match by Warren Woolfolk, 6-3, 6-7, 10-3 in the No. 2 position. In the No. 3 slot, Enrique Olivares defeated Mario Gil, 2-6, 6-0, 6-3. Juan Crosa defeated Patrick Russo, 6-2, 6-1, in the No. 4 position. In the No. 5 position Lisandro Picardo defeated Nathan Starr, 6-1, 6-0, while sophomore Sebastian Serrano defeated Chapman Mitchell, 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 6 position.
The Buccaneers next match is scheduled for tomorrow, March 24, against Gardner-Webb in
