(Oct. 21, 2005) - The ETSU women's golf team is currently tied for 13th after firing a first-round score of 302 Friday in the Taco Bell Intercollegiate at the par-72, 6,232-yard Bradford Creek Golf Course.
Western Carolina currently holds the lead on both the team and individual leaderboard. The Catamounts fired a team score of 284 and lead Georgia State by one stroke, while WCU's Ashley Hovda scorched the course for a 6-under-par 66 and holds a three stroke edge over Georgia State's Annika Korkeila.
ETSU was led by a pair of 74s from senior Ashley Barton (Seffner, Fla.) and sophomore Natalia Giraldo (Cali, Colombia), as both are currently tied for 32nd. Other Lady Buc results included a tie for 42nd from freshman Lucy Gould (Bargoed, Wales).
