SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (Feb. 24, 2006) - Senior Ashley Barton (Seffner, Fla.) fired a team-best, 3-over-par 75 as the ETSU women's golf team finished 12th after the first round of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic at the Dorado Del Mar Golf Club.

Barton is eight strokes off the pace set by North Carolina's Ann Laney, who fired a 4-under 68 Friday and tops the individual leaderboard by three strokes. In the team competition, Purdue currently leads by two strokes over Kent State after posting a 5-over 295 score.

Along with Barton, who is tied for 17th, sophomore Maria Ringdahl (Oland, Sweden) is tied for 46th with a 79, while senior Laura Diaz (Aguadilla, P.R.) is tied for 59th.
