WALLACE, N.C. (March 28, 2006) - Senior Ashley Barton (Seffner, Fla.) enjoyed her best finish of the 2005-06 campaign, placing second on the individual leaderboard and helping lead the ETSU women's golf team to a strong fourth-place finish Tuesday in the UNCW Lady Seahawk Invitational at the River Landing Golf Club.
Barton, who posted a three-round score of 4-over 220 (73-76-71), tied with Kentucky's Beth Felts for second place, while UNC Wilmington's Michelle Jarmon took home the individual medalist honor with a score of 218. On the team leaderboard, the Bucs ended the event 13 strokes back of team champion Kentucky, which posted a final three-round score of 906. The fourth place finish was the best showing by the Lady Bucs since finishing third at the Lady Jaguar Invitational back on Nov. 7-8.
Along with Barton, freshman Lucy Gould (Bargoed, Wales) finished tied for 29th, while sophomore Maria Ringdahl (Oland, Sweden) ended the event tied for 34th. Sophomore Natalia Giraldo (Cali, Colombia) and senior Laura Diaz (Aguadilla, P.R.) rounded out the ETSU efforts, finishing tied for 38th and 44th, respectively.
