HUMBLE, Texas (March 19, 2006) - Tied for second place entering the final day at the GCAA Hall of Fame Invitational, the 14th-ranked ETSU men's golf team struggled to a third-round score of 308 and dropped to a fifth-place finish Sunday at the Redstone Tournament Course. Despite those final round issues, the Buccaneers still posted their fourth-straight Top 5 finish of the spring season and their sixth in eight events during the 2005-06 campaign.

While the team struggled, junior Rhys Davies (Bridgend, Wales) finished with a strong effort, firing an even-par 72 to end the event tied for sixth place at 4-over 220. However, Davies - along with the rest of the field - was not able to contend with Oklahoma's Anthony Kim, who posted an 8-under-par 208 to win the individual championship by an impressive eight strokes. In the team competition, Oklahoma State enjoyed a 10-stroke cushion over second-place Texas A&M, as the Cowboys finished with an overall score of 16-over 880.

Along with Davies, other ETSU results included a 16th-place finish by sophomore Cian McNamara (Limerick, Ireland), as well as a tie for 30th by sophomore Gareth Shaw (Lisburn, Northern Ireland).

The Buccaneers will enjoy a two-week break before returning to action April 1 in the Augusta Golf Classic hosted by Augusta State. For more on ETSU men's golf, visit ETSUBucs.com.
