Davies named A-Sun Player of the Year; Shaw, Findlay, Hodkinson also garner honors

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (May 4, 2006) - The Atlantic Sun Conference announced its 2005-06 postseason men's golf awards on Thursday, with four ETSU players bringing home conference honors.

On way to earning his second-straight player of the year honor, Davies posted a league-best 70.9 scoring average and captured a pair of individual titles. He also finished in the top-10 nine times in 12 events. He is currently ranked fourth in the GolfStat Cup Standings and fifth nationally in the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index. A whopping 61 percent of Davies' rounds this season broke par including 13 rounds in the 60's, and he won a pair of tournaments, capturing titles at both the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate and Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at the Ridges.
Shaw, meanwhile, gives the 14th-ranked Bucs a pair of players on the first team. The youngest player on the first team, Shaw finished tied for seventh at the A-Sun Championship and ended the year second on the team in stroke average at 72.7. Meanwhile, |
