JOHNSON CITY, TENN. (June 10, 2005) - The East Tennessee State Lady Bucs basketball squad has released its schedule for the 2005-06 season, the first season of competition in the Atlantic Sun Conference for ETSU athletics. Highlighted with home contests versus conference rivals Belmont, Lipscomb and Jacksonville University, the Bucs will also travel to face SEC powerhouse Mississippi State, and Conference USA competitor the Cincinnati Bearcats in 2005-06....

CHATTANOOGA, TENN. (March 5, 2005) - Two members of the Lady Bucs basketball squad were honored with spots on the 2005 Southern Conference All-Tournament Team. ETSU point guard B.J. Banjo (Baltimore, Md.), who averaged 18.0 points per game in tournament play, was a member of the All-Tournament First Team, while teammate Candace Gibson (Warner Robins, Ga.) who led ETSU in the overtime thriller versus Georgia Southern with career-high's 27 points and 18 rebounds, was a member of the All-Tournament Second Team....

CHATTANOOGA, TENN. (Feb. 28, 2005) - Lady Bucs senior forward Tiffani Mayes (Sumter, S.C.) has been selected as the Southern Conference Player of the Year, the announcement came from Chattanooga, Tenn., site of the 2005 Conference Championship Tournament beginning this Wednesday. Mayes led the SoCon in points all season long averaging 20.5 ppg. heading into tournament play, while the mark also ranked her as high as sixth in the nation this season. Also garnering all-conference first-team honors was Lady Bucs point guard B.J. Banjo (Baltimore, Md.) who posted a 15.5 ppg. average and led the Bucs with a 38.7 average from beyond the arc, and holds a team-high 81 percent average from the charity stripe....

STATESBORO, GA. (Feb. 26, 2005) - A strong second half rally by the Georgia Southern Eagles led to a 85-82 season finale loss for the Lady Bucs from Statesboro today. With the loss, ETSU falls to 11-16 overall for the 2004-05 season and 9-11 in Southern Conference action. GSU improves to 14-13 and 11-9 in SoCon play. The Bucs are 11-15 overall including a 9-10 slate in SoCon action, while GSU holds a 13-13 overall and 9-10 SoCon record. ETSU is led by Tiffani Mayes (Sumter, S.C.) who's 20.3 ppg. is a conference high and ranks her 11th in national standings this week. Point guard B.J. The Lady Bucs (9-15, 7-10 SoCon) lost a close 55-54 decision to College of Charleston last Wednesday and look for momentum as the 2004-05 season nears its end. Tiffani Mayes (Sumter, S.C.) grabbed a season-high 18 rebounds versus the Cougars, adding a team-high 20 points in the loss. Lady Bucs point guard B.J. Banjo (Baltimore, Md.) has found offensive momentum of late, she posted 17 points, including a 2-3 showing from beyond the arc versus Charleston on Feb. 16....

(Feb. 16, 2005) - Despite a season-high 18 rebounds and 20 points by Lady Bucs forward Tiffani Mayes (Sumter, S.C.), the ETSU women's basketball team (9-15, 7-10 SoCon) dropped a 55-54 decision to College of Charleston. After a slow start, the Bucs posted a strong rally in the final minutes of the first half, while beginning the second half on an 11-0 run, however the Cougar defense held strong and took the conference victory. (Feb. 15, 2005) - The Lady Bucs basketball squad will travel to Charleston, S.C. tomorrow to face the College of Charleston Cougars in the final match-up between the two schools for the 2004-05 season. Charleston visited Memorial Center on Jan. 31 taking a 51-48 victory over the Bucs, the first time the Cougars registered a victory over ETSU since the 2002-03 season. Tiffani Mayes (Sumter, S.C.) continues to lead ETSU on the court, her 19.9 ppg. is a conference-high, while her 7.7 rebounds leads the Lady Bucs thus far. Including the game versus the Cougars tomorrow night, ETSU has four regular season games remaining before the Southern Conference Championship Tournament in Chattanooga, Tenn. March 2-5....

The Bucs improve to 9-14, 7-9 in Southern Conference action, while Appalachian State falls to 10-13, 7-9 SoCon. For the Lady Bucs, Tiffani Mayes (Sumter, S.C.) posted a team-high 26 points and 10 rebounds for the double-double while point guard B.J. The Lady Bucs took the 84-68 victory over WCU from Memorial Center on Jan. 10 and hold the 42-19 all-time advantage. In the Jan. 3 poll, Mayes ranked 22nd with 19.5 points per game, however with her 31.0 points per game average against Davidson and Western Carolina last week, Mayes has jumped 16 positions and currently ranks sixth in the nation with 21.2 points per game....
