JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 3, 2004) - Season tickets for the 2004-05 East Tennessee State University men's and women's basketball seasons will go on sale to the general public at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 7. Ticket office hours are 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. "We are very excited with the interest we've already seen for season tickets this year," said ETSU athletic ticket manager Chris Barnhill. "Our renewal rate has been very high, with nearly all season ticket holders having renewed for this year. In addition, we've had an unusually high number of callers asking when tickets will go on sale to the general public." Indeed, there is a great deal of excitement surrounding basketball this season at ETSU. On the men's side, the Buccaneers are coming off back-to-back trips to the NCAA Tournament and will once again feature guard Tim Smith, who has been called one of the most exciting players in all of college basketball by several in the national media. The men's home schedule includes exciting contests against schools such as Western Athletic Conference opponent Fresno State, in-state rival Tennessee Tech, and Southern Conference powers like College of Charleston, Chattanooga and Appalachian State. In addition, after a home slate of 12 games last season, the Bucs will host two additional home contests this year. "Fans will notice two more games this season compared to last, and that includes games against Fresno State, Tennessee Tech, College of Charleston, Chattanooga, and the possibility of an ESPN Bracket Buster game in February, which will be included in the season-ticket package," Barnhill said. On the women's side, the Lady Bucs will play host to a pair of major conference opponents, with Atlantic 10 member Temple and Southeastern Conference foe Mississippi State invading Memorial Center. Fans need to also be aware of the new seating configuration in Memorial Center. The playing floor has been moved to the west side of the arena, helping to make access from the west-side parking area easier for fans. Restrooms, concessions, merchandise booths and entrances will be available on the floor level, and new end-level bleachers have been added in addition to more up-to-date priority seating for fans wishing to join the Pirate Club. "Fans sitting floor level on the west side will notice new cushioned seats instead of wooden bleachers, and across the court, we've renovated the east-side stands to include backs," Barnhill said. "We've opened up all three sections for public sale, which will allow more fans access to court-level seating. We currently have a waiting list for the new seats behind the team benches, and we anticipate these seats to be nearly - if not completely - sold out by Tuesday." While many seats have already been sold during the renewal period, Barnhill said quality seats still remain. "We still have great seats in the lower ten rows of sections directly across from the team benches," Barnhill said. "These seats sell for $150 for adults and $100 for youth, seniors, and ETSU faculty and staff. These seats will only be sold as season tickets. We also have good seats available in all upper reserved sections with seats as low as 11 rows above the court. Seats in the upper reserved sections are $130 for an adult and $80 for youth, seniors, and faculty and staff." To purchase your season tickets, call or visit the ETSU athletics ticket office located on the second floor of Memorial Center's west side. Hours of operation are 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more ticket information, visit and click on the ticket banner, or call 439-ETSU (3878). Fans should also watch for the introduction of a new online e-ticketing system which will launch on later this month.
