ETSU women's soccer holds soccer clinic at Girls Inc.

Thursday, March 10, 2005

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Mar. 10, 2005) - East Tennessee State University's women's soccer team held a soccer clinic in cooperation with Girls Inc. on Feb. 24. Approximately 30 girls took part in the event.

"The clinic at Girls Inc. was wonderful. We really had the opportunity to connect with these girls," Buccaneer coach Heather Henson said. "It was wonderful to see their smiling faces and talk with them about how much they love playing soccer."

During the event, the ETSU women's soccer players spoke with their young fans about soccer and worked with the girls to develop their basic soccer skills including: dribbling, passing, heading, juggling, and playing the game.

"ETSU Soccer had an opportunity to give back to the youth in the community, but at the same time these young girls at Girls Inc. gave us the awareness of how much soccer is continuing to grow in this community. We appreciate the Girls Inc. staff for allowing us to come and enjoy the day with these girls."
